Can We All Learn to Build a Better World?
Research shows your chances of becoming an innovator and inventor depends on several variables: 1) where you live, 2) your race, 3) your gender, and 4) your socio-economic level. If you are not wealthy, white, rich or a male who lives in one of the five major US cities where the majority of patents are developed, your chances to invent are 10X less likely if you are a minority, woman, or a child living in poverty. We believe all learners can build a better world in their own communities and beyond when provided the right context, support and tools. Pactful was designed to recapture the “Lost Einsteins,” and empower learners, educators and communities to innovate from within to build their better world.
Pactful™ was created by the Jacobs Institute for Innovation in Education in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego. At the heart of the institute lies the mission to support inclusive innovation with all learners, schools and educational organizations.
Over the past eight years, the Jacobs Institute has established itself as a credible and important voice in K-12 education, particularly in advancing innovation and equity in our schools. In collaboration with some of the nation’s largest urban school districts, The Jacobs Institute’s team of experts has taken a comprehensive approach to identify best practices, build capacity and improve student outcomes through research and evaluation, strategic direction and professional learning.
